We fish rain or shine, but it’s ultimately at the group’s discretion regarding inclement weather.
To ensure you are comfortable on the water, we recommend the following
items:
1. Appropriate seasonal clothing
Temps on lake are generally 10-15 degrees cooler
2. Sunscreen/sun glasses/hat
3. Soft soled shoes (no work boots)
4. Camera
5. Cooler (for your catch)
6. Fishing license (unless included in Deluxe
charter package)
We are able to accommodate up to 6 guests on the “We’re On!” Although we have a lot of extra space the United States Coast Guard limits the number of passengers on a charter to 6.
You can purchase your two day Great Lakes Fishing Stamp and License online through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources or Bay Lake Charters carries two day licenses on the boat. Charter Packages have licenses included.
We typically leave the dock an hour before sunrise to ensure that we get in on the morning bite of the King Salmon, but will leave anytime your group wishes. If we have an afternoon charter booked, we need to be back in before the scheduled departure time of the next trip. Please discuss this with Captain Adam when booking. Afternoon charters leave the dock at noon.
Yes, the fish still bite in the rain, but it’s ultimately your choice, if you want to hold off on leaving the dock until after the rain passes. Captain Adam will work with groups to reschedule, if he feels the inclement weather is making it unsafe to be on the water.
Yes, the cabin of the boat is enclosed and our onboard generator allows us to control the heat and AC during trips.
Yes. Only marine grade paper products are to be flushed in the onboard toilet. Any heavy items such as paper towel or feminine hygiene products will clog the septic system making it unusable. Trash receptacles are provided and should be used for these items.
Absolutely. We kindly ask that you be mindful of food items that are brought onboard and try not to bring anything that is generally messy or creates a lot of crumbs, and please be respectful of the boat and clean-up after yourself. Trash bags are provided. No glass. Alcohol should be consumed in moderation and unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Illicit drugs are not allowed.
You should always consult your physician first, but many clients find it helpful to take an over-the-counter medication to prevent motion sickness (i.e., Dramamine, Bonine) before it starts. Experience has shown that it’s helpful to allow the medication to work in your system well before boarding the boat. Some other tips: Make sure you have food in your stomach. Soda crackers and Ginger Ale can be lifesavers. Avoid excessive alcohol, avoid strong food odors; choose a seat where you experience the least motion, do not sit facing backwards; do not read on the boat if you’re prone to motion sickness; and it may help to keep your gaze on a fixed point such as the horizon. Please be respectful and clean-up any messes.
You can take your fish with you between trips and store on ice in a cooler.
Tipping 15-20% is customary in the charter industry. Captain Adam and his first mate will go out of their way to make sure that your charter is a success and provide you with services that other companies will not.
Being just 15 miles south of Door County and 30 miles east of Green Bay, there is an abundance of activity surrounding Algoma. We recommend checking out Door County Visitor Bureau and Trip Advisor - Door County. Some of our favorites are visiting Lambeau Field (Home of the Green Bay Packers), Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, the many beaches, wineries, and tourist attractions of Door County. Captain Adam has great recommendations and can help you plan your perfect vacation.
